Do you trust your intuition? Or push it aside? .
Today I stopped for a quick lunch with Eloise and another 2 year old boy that I take care of. Shortly after we sat down a man sat down at the table next to us. I noticed he didn’t order any food from the counter which immediately made me question why he was there. He stared at us for what felt like an eternity even though it was probably only about 5 minutes. I turned to meet his glance multiple times as to say, I see you staring, please back off. I felt extremely uncomfortable but tried to brush it off and tell myself that he’s probably meeting a friend. He doesn’t mean any harm and probably has a mental health condition. I tried to make myself believe that people are good and that I was overreacting but I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong. After our food came he moved closer and said in a horrifying voice “cute kids.” He didn’t smile. And I couldn’t get out of there any faster. I literally threw everyone’s food into one huge bag which sent two hungry toddlers into a complete meltdown, but it didn’t matter. As I scrambled to get the screaming kids out of their seats the man started talking to my 2 year old, as if to keep us there or calm us down. I grabbed them both, carried them to the car, got them in their car seats faster than I ever have before and drove off scared that he was going to follow me. Was I overreacting? Maybe. Was he a normal guy who thought my kids were actually just cute? Possibly, because they are. Is it possible he had a mental disability which made him stare awkwardly with no regard to how it made me feel? Could be. Was I going to ignore my gut feeling and stick around to find out? HELL NO. .
People, women, mamas, we have an intuition for a reason. We are given this sixth sense to protect ourselves and those we love. TRUST IT. We’re living in crazy times right now. When it comes to protecting my children, very few people get the benefit of the doubt. If something feels off, I dont ignore it and neither should you. Better safe than sorry. .
