A little series from last Friday’s jaunt up Pike o’ Blisco with @adventuresoftheshaws
Thanks to everyone who commented on this post yesterday but there were a few things I felt needed altered so I thought it was worth sorting out and posting again! Anyone else do things like that or is it just me? 😄

Taking a breather and admiring the views on Aonoach Eagach ridge. I just did a really quick edit on this shot which means I’ll probably look again tomorrow with fresh eyes and wonder what the hell I was thinking 😂 Anyway, I hope you like it. This place was pretty epic 👌🏻

The mighty Scafells, framed perfectly by the Great Door. The walk up Yewbarrow is an absolute calf killer to begin with, followed by a sketchy scramble up a crag. After that, though, you reach a brow and are blessed with this amazing view of England’s highest mountains 👌🏻

Making our way up the final ascent on the Aonach Eagach ridge. A day of wading through deep snow and scrambling over arêtes is a day well spent but I’ll make sure I bring more food next time! Totally crashed at one point until Chris sorted me out with a camp meal 😄

Looking down to Thirlmere from the mighty Helvellyn. Anybody else praying for more wintry scenes like this?

Blea Tarn on New Year’s Day. I’m quite ashamed to say this was my first time shooting here! I can never normally resist the call of a mountain, there’s just something about the exercise and the sense of accomplishment when reaching a summit for sunrise that repeatedly draws me in. After being a proper fat bastard over Christmas, though, this place was ideal for my tired legs and lungs 😂
Hope you’ve all had a great weekend 👌🏻

The shot I never thought I’d get! We kept putting off going to this spot because the winds were pretty bad every day. As the trip went on, it looked unlikely that it’d ever be calm enough to safely fly our drones over the sea to shoot the place.
On the very last day, right before our flight, the weather was calm as could be so we went here for sunrise before rushing to the airport. You fucking dancer 🤘🏻

Where the hell has all the snow gone?
A couple of shots from a cold evening up Helm Crag with @sheep_and_dogs - the Hawaiian gal who now works as shepherdess in Cumbria! 🐑

I’m not sure about you guys but I’ve always fancied the idea of living in a lighthouse. No neighbours, sounds of the sea and the best security light going 😄
Imagine walking home up this path after enjoying an amazing sunset on the beach 👌🏻

Time to reflect. I’ve never really been a believer of the “new year, new me” thought process as I think if we want to make positive changes to our lives, there really is no time like the present. That said, I can’t help but see the end of each year as some kind of marker; it seems as good a time as any to take stock and see how things are going
.
For the most part, this year’s been superb. I’ve been to some truly wonderful places and shared memorable experiences with very inspirational people. I’ve also had some pretty low points too but whenever I’ve got back out of a trough, I’ve been more motivated than ever to find the next peak. That’s the part that’s most important to me and it’s let me know that I’ve been moving in the right direction. .
Thanks so much for all of your support in 2019, I really do appreciate it, you guys are ace. Have yourselves an amazing night tonight and let’s all make 2020 our year 🙌🏻

The imposing silhouette of @fellfoodie
This guy posted something very moving to his account a couple of days ago. He talked not only about his mental health but also about antidepressants and the part they now play in his life. If you get a minute, you should definitely check out the post; it seems to have resonated with a lot people which is absolutely fantastic. This is a tough time of year for some us and maybe reading about somebody else’s struggles could help a little bit.
.
I hope you’ve all got amazing plans in place for tomorrow. Have yourselves an absolute belter and may I wish you all the very best for 2020 🙌🏻

My last trip of 2019 was probably my most challenging one too. Supported by @arcteryxpiccadilly we set out to do a summit camp on Am Bodach before traversing the famous Aonach Eagach ridge the following day. We started at night and trekked through wind, rain and snow before pitching our tents. The ridge walk was truly breathtaking but it really did put us and our gear to the test! A long day but one that will forever stick in my mind 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

A full moon tries its best to illuminate the Lake District mountains. What’s everybody up to for New Year’s Eve then?

Boxing Day sunset at this place was superb. A couple were leaving as I arrived and then the beach was all mine. I sat on a rock and ate Christmas dinner pt2 before sending the drone up for some photos and video 👌🏻

So, how did everybody’s Christmas go!? I’ve really enjoyed catching up with friends and family and was delighted to become an Uncle for the second time on the 23rd 😊 Back to work tomorrow but that was a nice break!
Here are some glacial textures from Iceland 🇮🇸

Following Chris on the dramatic Anoach Eagach ridge. I’m really looking forward to sharing the photos from this trip to but for now, I’d just like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and say a big thank you for your support over the past 12 months. I hope you have a great day tomorrow, however you’ll be spending it! 🎅

A walker’s wonderland 🇫🇴 .
Just a thought - Quite a few of us have been gifted with some great bits of kit this year but how mint would it be if we all donated at least one of those pieces to somebody who really needs it? Imagine how chuffed a person might be with a quality outdoor jacket? It could just give them the boost they need 😊 .
Hope you’re all having a great weekend 👌🏻
