THANK YOU to our generous community for the incredible amount of donations for our December Hygiene Supply Drive!

With your help, EVERY SCHOOL within Lawrence Public Schools will receive TWO large boxes of supplies for our students and families!

Did you know?

More often that not, students miss school because of the lack of basic personal hygiene supplies. If they do come to school, many times they are embarrassed, as acquiring basic hygiene items such as soap, shampoo, and toothpaste can be very challenging for many families.
It was our hope to provide our schools and students with a personal hygiene kit and supplies so that no one student is singled out.
We did it! THANK YOU!

The Lawrence Schools Foundation plays a critical role in funding the educational experience of our students. By fostering and enhancing the partnerships between our community and the school district, we can help support educational programs that would otherwise not be funded. We strive to close the gap between budgetary challenges and the needs of our students in an increasingly competitive world.

By making an annual gift of any amount, parent and community leaders fund programs that elevate and enrich education for our students. Your gift helps them achieve their dreams.

Please join the ranks of supporters of the foundation whose contributions have made and continue to make a significant impact on our public schools. If you would like your gift to provide immediate impact, you can help by making a donation to the Annual Giving Campaign. You can also make a lifetime gift to the Endowment Fund and help us provide ongoing support to the schools for years to come.

Together, we are making our schools and our community stronger. No matter what your passion is, there are many ways to support our Lawrence Public Schools and we couldn’t do it without you!

Lawrence Free State High School Alumni In Action!

Did you know, 2006 FSHS grad, Spencer Lott, recreated the iconic puppets from Mr. Rogers neighborhood in immaculate detail for the new film A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, starring Tom Hanks as Fred Rogers?

Spencer is a maker, writer and puppeteer based in Brooklyn. In addition to playing Samuel on Sesame Street, some of his puppetry credits include A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, America’s Got Talent and Scarecrow. Spencer has been the recipient of multiple Jim Henson Foundation Grants for his original theatrical work. Lott was the first recipient of the Jim Henson Foundation Puppetry Residency at the O’Neill Theater Center. He was named a “Hawk to Watch” by the University of Kansas Alumni Association. Currently, he is a resident artist at
HERE Arts, a member of the teaching artist ensemble at BAM and the New Victory Theater and is the Associate Artistic Director of Trusty Sidekick Theater Company (NYC). We are beyond excited to announce that Spencer will be our 2020 featured guest speaker at our Annual Community Education Breakfast event! Mark your calendars - as you aren't going to want to miss this one!

More highlights from last nights big event, as we celebrated our sponsors, educators and community partners at the 29th Annual Foundation Follies event.
This event raises money to provide our teachers and classrooms with funding for Innovative Teaching and School Assistance Grants to inspire our youth.
Congrats to our 2019 Golden Apple Award recipients, Elementary Educator Tara Pearson from PinckneyElementary and our Secondary Educator Deborarh Woodall Routledge from Southwest Middle School.

Congrats to our 2019 LEAP Allstar Award winner Billy Mills Middle School CPO.

This was one of our favorite Follies events so far as guests enjoyed live music by Coversmith, dancing, amazing food and many even took the opportunity to sing live on stage with the band- including our very own Lawrence Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. Anthony Lewis!
Thank you to all of our amazing and generous table and food sponsors who made last night possible!
